THE IMPORTANT WORK

Sometimes I forget the "IMPORTANT WORK."  "THE IMPORTANT WORK" that is the ongoing process of who I am on the inside as a person, as an artist.  "THE IMPORTANT WORK" that is maybe only meaningful to me, but satisfies and fulfills that part of me that just wants to love my own imagination and creativity.  Creativity and imagination that is my own discovery.  Stuff that I didn't think existed until I embarked on fashioning it myself, for myself.

This is "THE IMPORTANT WORK" that no one else sees except in the guise of finished pieces. This is "THE IMPORTANT WORK" that embodies the journey of who I am.  A journey that seems to go off track, but then levels off and returns to the original voyage that began so long ago.  I realize that its okay that it only holds significance to me and for me.  Its one of the few things that I can be selfish and selfless about, just for me.

Sometimes "THE IMPORTANT WORK" seems so simple to outsiders or even other artists.  A join that is well soldered, a saw cut that is even and smooth, a practised hand finish, a beautiful patina and all the care that is required to accomplish even basic, but foundational skills.  They all require just that, skill.  And a devotion to those things that make up a whole, gorgeous, extraordinary piece that is wonderful just because of these details.

I have come to understand that "THE IMPORTANT WORK" is and always will be what I make it.

ANOTHER "ORTHY" ADVENTURE!

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope that you all had a beautiful Thanksgiving.  I certainly did. Wonderful, homemade food and loving, family company.

I am up late, still working and thought I would put up a couple of pics of something interesting I am working on.

I always wanted to create a jeweled, wire woven animal piece of some kind.  I'm sure you can guess what the item is.  As to what the rest of it will end up being.......well, that remains to be seen.  I am sort of in the middle of a serendipitous journey with this one.  It has been labor-intensive, but somehow intriguing at the same time.  Just when I think I've run out of creative juices, a new thought visits my brain or an out-of-the-blue inspiration hits me.

I like those times when I have no deadline, when I can just play.

Enjoy!

Always Something To Be Grateful For

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to wish you all a "Happy Thanksgiving."  This time of year always seems to sneak up on me.  I try to prepare for it, but invariably I lose sight of what's really important.

With all the tragic things going on in our crazy world, its good to make time to really consider who and what is important to us in this life.

So take a moment, and try and remember there is always something to be grateful for no matter how hard, inconvenient or unfair people or circumstances can be sometimes.

Many Blessings,

Good Afternoon Everybody!

I thought you would appreciate some jewelry inspiration today.

Just wanted to share some pics from a wonderful jewelry artist whose work I admire greatly.  Her name is Ewa Z. Sleziona and she is an independent, goldsmith jeweler from Sweden.  Her work embodies extreme ornamentation that is reminiscent of old, gothic-style wrought iron architecture.  She then translates this inspiration into very wearable jewelry works of art.  She works mostly in silver that sometimes has been deeply blackened and pairs it with beautiful gemstones.  She incorporates traditional metalsmithing, wire weaving and pave techniques to name just a few.

She is truly a one-of-a-kind talent who has tremendous skill and passion for creating unique, feminine and what I would consider heirloom quality pieces.

Please check out the other fabulous things she has available on her facebook page.  It is well worth a look.

Hi Everybody,

Hope all of you have had a blessed and contented day.  Sometimes its hard to grasp things like peace, rest, joy or contentment.  They feel so intangible.  I think they have nothing to do with feelings, emotions or having things just the way we want them so we can experience happiness.  They can't be figured out with our intellect or logic, they just are.  They reside in each one of us ready to be recognized, cultivated and enjoyed.

I came upon a nice quote today.  The statement kind of matched my mindset.  I'm working on banishing the three culprits below from my own life.

Here is another pic for your perusal.  This is a trillion-shaped drusy stone pendant secured in a Sterling Silver netting technique.  It is embellished with faceted Peridot, Garnet, tiny silver tendrils and spirals.

Take care and many blessings,

Good Afternoon Everybody!

It has been a wonderful day if for no other reason except God woke me up again.  He is present in my life, and I want to be present also, living in the moment.  I know everything He makes possible is for a purpose.  I am grateful for this, and though life is not perfect I am content to know that I am in His loving hands.

"If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed."  John 8:36

Here are a few pics of some of my current work.  They are rather "Rustic" in a kind of primitive fashion.  The earrings and the ring accompany the bracelet I uploaded in yesterday's post. The bracelet is what I call, a "Tornado" wrap-style, very funky and hopefully a conversation piece.  I hope you enjoy them.

Many Blessings

Good Morning Everyone!

It has been a long time since I have put pen to paper, six months or more.  I am back in the saddle again, and I hope to remain active on a regular basis. Most recently, I have opened my Etsy Store.  I realize that it is late in the year to start something for the holiday season, but I am happy I did nonetheless. Better late than never and I feel sort of liberated.  I sense I have turned a much needed corner.  In fact, it is just good to even do the little things that make a business run, and call it my own.

This year has been fraught with semi-setbacks, sicknesses, injuries and etcetera of all kinds. Through it all I still perceive the guiding hand of the God who loves me, my family and friends.  I can't say how the year will end anymore than I can see how the next one will begin, but I will trust in Him and not give up my dreams.

Many Blessings and Enjoy.........
