It is 10:42pm. Just got word a few minutes ago from one of our sons that our daughter-in-law was a victim of a hit and run auto accident that happened in his mother-in-law's driveway. She was hit bodily and flew fifteen feet into the air and landed hard - dazed and scraped to be sure. Our son and she are in the emergency room now making sure nothing else major has taken place internally. Thankfully our grandchildren were not harmed. There were three assailants; two that were apprehended by our son and a cousin of our daughter-in-law. The third who was the driver is still at large. It appears that alcohol has played a part in this almost fatal encounter.
All of a sudden I thought how much we take for granted in this life as if we had all the time in the world. If the news is any indication much of society has forgotten how precious life is, and that we are all accountable for how we treat one another. Everyday is a gift full of promise, but only if we each take the time to measure it as such.
It only takes a split second for life to pass on and regrets last forever. How much easier it is to say, "I'm sorry" or "I was wrong" or please "Forgive me". The best by far would be to say, "I love you" to those that need to hear it, and back it up with some action on a daily basis.
Another thought for another time...................
